Tips for low-cost vegetable planting: reuse the substrate after treatment, which is simple and labor-saving in gardening
Soilless cultivation of melons, fruits and vegetables, the provincial artificial yield is high, many farmers and friends feel novel about this planting mode, but there are also many doubts. We use planting bags with earthworm manure and cow dung to grow melons, tomatoes, cucumbers and more. Many friends questioned after seeing that the cost of each stubble of substrate cultivation should be very high, the substrate should be poured out of the planting bag, and then loaded with new ones, which is not to save labor?
"Can the substrate be reused?" This is a question that many knowledgeable people often have, including some friends who have already started soilless cultivation, and they have planted a stubble and do not know how to deal with the substrate in the planting bag.
In fact, I am worried that the substrate cannot be used, mainly because the matrix contains a large number of inorganic salts, the root system carries germs, if you do not replace the new substrate, the next stubble planting when the dead seedling rate is high, is not conducive to the growth of stubble vegetables.
After several years of planting experience, the substrate we use can be reused and only needs to be treated simply to plant seedlings. There is no need to replace the substrate with a new substrate before planting each stubble. Therefore, the first planting needs to be placed in the planting bag, filled with substrate, and then laid drip irrigation belt, which looks very labor-intensive and expensive, but when it comes to the next stubble planting, it is more labor-saving than soil planting. The treatment of the substrate should be done well, such as this stubble planting tomatoes, the next stubble ready to plant melons, see how we deal with the substrate?
In the first step, the previous stubble is first pulled out, and there are some roots in the matrix, and then drip with water to drain the salts and impurities from the matrix. Generally, each drip irrigation lasts for four or five hours, continuously for 2 to 3 days, and after treatment, it is almost the same as the new matrix.
In the second step, when cultivating without soil, the root system is more developed, and some farmers will worry that when pulling seedlings, the planting bag will be damaged and the substrate will be lost. If the substrate used is breathable and loose, the root system will only take away a small amount of matrix after pulling. Before planting the stubble, the substrate should be filled with the planting bag to facilitate the fixation of the root system.
The entire process of processing the substrate is very easy and can be completed with only one more worker. After the substrate is processed, the seedlings can be planted, whether it is the same crop or not, there is no need to worry about the problem of heavy stubble. As for how long can the substrate last? Generally, the planting bag or planting tank can continue to be used, then the substrate can be used, and it can be used for four or five years.
The substrate can be reused, which is also an advantage of soilless cultivation. We changed the planting mode, and we can no longer follow the soil planting routine. When soilless cultivation and stubble change, there is no need to plough again, no need to raise ridges again, to achieve the purpose of saving time and labor, and when changing stubble, it is almost no longer necessary to spend money. When labor and input costs are reduced, the efficiency of planting can be improved.
